Harlie
I am a permanent resident of the
sanctuary. (Adopted by the
founder). I reside with Ivy as a
companion. We have good social
manners and enjoy educating
young people in the requirements
of owning a bird of our size.

Hi my name is Pepito
Pepe is a 40 year old Double
Yellow Headed Amazon. She
has lived with same family
since 1977. She was a wild
capture from Mexico and
roamed the town freely as a pet
for several years. Her B/G
Macaw friend came across an
accident that took its life, and in
1977 Pepito was allowed to
move to California.
After many years Pepe's human
companion passed away. Ten
years ago responsibility as a
caretaker became another
family member that has been
unable to handle her. Recently
the very difficult decision was
made that in best interest of
Pepe, to get her to people that
have the experience and
knowledge to give her the best
possible surroundings and
lifestyle, knowing they were
never be able to provide. After
working several days with Pepe,
her training continues for
socializing with people. FCBS
will continue to work with her.
She is very sweet actually and
has polite manners and was
obviously loved. Her cage came
with her and is 4ft x 6ft tall. Pepe
has not allowed herself to be
caged in almost three years.
She seems to be taking well to
her new surroundings,has
recently become handleable,
and enjoys all the attention.

4TheBirds.org is a place you can shop and make a statement. That you believe we need to do better for captive birds in the USA. Show that you believe in quality care.
"This world usually offers little demand on owners of animals, with few repercussions for their actions when abuse is involved. Humans are directly responsible for any credit or blame for the quality of a domestic animals life as a pet. Our responsibility is to persuade the public how we are absolutely their only chance for survival, and every action we take toward that step to raise their level of importance in how we treat them, and lead by example, offering a solid description of what the minimum standard of care that is acceptable. The future of many species depends on their very life or death always."
